The dance form often performed by artists during festival times like the Pongal or Panguni Uthiram. The word “Karagam” means decorated pot, and in this dance, the performer balances a pot (often filled with water) on their head while doing graceful movements. It is typically taught in various folk dance academies or cultural centers that specialize in Tamil folk art forms. Dancers usually wear saree as their attire and the important part of costume is their hair, which is usually adorned by flowers. The whole attire shows the connection with the goddess.
