Chu Faat Dance
Chu Faat Dance is the popular folk dance form of Lepchas community. It is performed for showing gratitude and honor guardian deity of Mount Khangchendzonga. “Chu” means “Snowy Range” and “Faat” means “Worship. So, Chu Faat Dance refers to the worship of Snowy Range.
Performance— This dance is a ritualistic dance form that involves butter lamps and green bamboo leaves while singing devotional songs. This dance is generally performed during the Pang Lhabsol festival. Lepchas community people consider five mountains their shield and provider.
