Yak Chaam Dance
Yak Chaam Dance is a ritualistic folk dance that is a Tibetan-influenced which is generally performed for honouring the Yak- that is an important animal who survives on high altitude area. This energetic dance is prominent to Lepcha and Bhutia communities.
Performance— Yak Chaam dance is generally performed in monasteries during Buddhist and monastic festivals and on other religious events such as Losoong (the Sikkimese New Year). This Yak Chaam is performed by wearing Yak costumes or Yak masks along with horns and furs attached to it.
